Retail Copayments
Copayments are flat-dollar, cost sharing amounts. Copayment plan designs are simple and easy to communicate to members.

Tables 18 and 19 show the retail copayments in six drug categories.

The average retail generic copayment has decreased 5.6 percent. The average preferred drug copayment, meanwhile, has increased 6.9 percent since 2005-06 (see Table 20).
