Drug Benefit Design Report

Since 1995, PBMI has been surveying employers nationwide to produce a comprehensive overview of U.S. trends in prescription drug benefits. The survey report provides comparative market data on plan design, cost sharing and utilization management.

This unbiased, respected industry report is valued by professionals involved in designing and managing drug benefits.  In addition to documenting decisions organizations are making about drug exclusions, cost sharing, utilization management programs, pharmacy network design, and reimbursement rates, the report discusses many of the issues benefits managers face day-to-day.

2007 Prescription Drug Benefit Cost and Plan Design Report

The 2007 survey report is now available in print and online. PBMI expanded the Drug Benefit Design Survey dramatically this year to meet the changing needs of the industry.

Look for new information on:

  • Medicare Part D, specialty pharmacy, maintenance drugs, drug-specific benefit and out-of-pocket maximums;
  • Copayments and coinsurance;
  • Per member per month utilization metrics; and
  • Utilization management tools, drug exclusions and over-the-counter drug coverage.

Because the 2007 survey resulted in such an expansive data set, PBMI created supplemental online resources to make the findings easy to access and use in benefit planning. The online report contains drill-down tables as well as the summary tables contained in the print report.
