2013 Drug Benefit Conference Recap
The 18th Annual Drug Benefit Conference was held in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand hotel for the first time this year. We had a great turnout of attendees and the meeting was a huge success. This year, the conference kicked-off with a thought-provoking keynote speech from Robert Whitaker, an award-winning author. In his presentation Robert addressed the “Effects of Psychiatric Medications Over the Long-term.” His newest book on this topic, “Anatomy of an Epidemic: Magic Bullets, Psychiatric Drugs, and the Astonishing Rise of Mental Illness in America,” won the Investigative Reporters and Editors book award for best investigative journalism in 2010.
Educational Sessions
Conference attendees enjoyed the option of selecting from 16 educational sessions spanning specialty and traditional pharmacy benefit. This year, we implemented two specialty drug benefit tracks. Attendees heard from industry leaders on the best practices for managing the specialty and traditional pharmacy benefit.
