Strategies to Actively Manage Specialty Pharmacy Drugs Now

Wednesday, October 11, 2006
2:003:30 p.m. EDT
(1:00 – 2:30 p.m. CDT, 12:00 noon – 1:30 p.m. MDT, 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. PDT)

Do you cover self-administered specialty drugs under medical or pharmacy benefit? Possibly both?

Is your medical or pharmacy benefit provider applying criteria for coverage of these expensive drugs?

Are members who receive these medications enrolled in disease management programs?

This Webcast will help you develop an active, engaged approach to providing specialty pharmacy coverage. Prioritize disease states for a systematic process to identify immediate opportunities for savings associated with curbing misuse and inappropriate utilization. Asthma, growth hormones and psoriasis will serve as case examples to illustrate how clinical management guidelines can be employed to ensure beneficiaries have access to needed specialty therapies while managing the plan sponsor’s financial risk.

Learning Objectives:

The Webcast is designed to help human resource and benefits professionals, pharmacy professionals, PBM executives, and consultants to:

  • Identify critical issues in developing a specialty pharmacy strategy and plan design approach
  • List questions plan sponsors should ask pharmacy benefit managers about specialty pharmacy coverage and pricing
  • Prioritize therapeutic classes and disease states for management strategies
  • Understand the importance of clinical management strategies by disease state, with asthma, growth hormones and psoriasis as case examples
