About the Speakers:
Matthew Mitchell, PharmD, MBA, MHP is responsible for pharmacy benefit management, associated clinical pharmacists and a managed care practice resident at SelectHealth. He oversees clinical programs and initiatives in the management of more than $350 million in pharmacy and medical injectable/infusible drug claims annually.
Matthew represents pharmacy services for several integrated clinical program boards, including oncology, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, obesity, attention deficit disorder, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, and respiratory care. Other current responsibilities include pharmacy and therapeutics committee formulary presentations, employer group presentations, injectable drug management, clinical research projects, physician education, prior authorization management, clinical guideline development, care management nurse education, pharmacy student/resident preceptorship, and economic modeling. Matthew has doctor of pharmacy degree from Idaho State University. Other post-graduate training includes a managed care pharmacy practice residency and a master's degree in business administration.
Robert (Bob) Carta is responsible for overall organization, clinical management, and strategic growth planning for all pharmaceutical services provided within the Carolinas Healthcare System (CHS). His responsibilities encompass multiple care environments, including eight acute hospitals; four indigent care ambulatory clinics; six retail pharmacies; and facilities for long-term care, behavioral health and rehabilitation. He recently developed and successfully launched CarolinaCare, a new mail-order pharmacy serving 40,000 CHS employees and affiliates. In addition, he oversees several management contracts for the provision of pharmacy services to CHS affiliates.
Bob is vice chair of the Premier National Pharmacy Committee and serves on the Dean's Advisory Board for Wingate University School of Pharmacy. He is an active presenter and speaker to Novation, Premier, American Society of Healthcare Pharmacists (ASHP) and serves on the faculty of the ASHP Pharmacy Leadership Academy. He is a graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy.
