PBM 202, Utilization Management Tools for the Pharmacy Benefit, is designed for those who are familiar with basic features of pharmacy benefit management (e.g., types of prescription drugs and cost-sharing designs).  It also assumes familiarity with the definition of, and common uses for, specialty medications.  

This course covers 4 learning objectives:
Identify the key components of utilization management and why it is important
 Describe elements of treatment review for managing the pharmacy benefit
 Discuss the benefits and limitations of prior authorization and step therapy for managing the pharmacy benefit
 Explain the types of drug utilization review and the reasons to use each
